Etude House Sweet Recipe Ice Cream Nail Polish

Recently I have seen these blog posts around about these cute little ice-cream nail polishes from Etude House. Lets just take a moment to admire their cuteness..........

Moment over, lets move on. So after seeing these reviews I really wanted to get my hands on one, but I was lucky enough to receive them for my birthday from the mother. I've not heard anything about these brand before so it is quite exciting to be introduced to a new brand and try out new things. So this is part of a collection called 'Sweet Recipe' and there are 4 nail polish's (I am unsure of what else, also of where you can get these I think ebay and Amazon) so lets go through them all.

Not only is the packaging cute, cool and different I really like the effect each one leaves on the nails. As you can see in the photos each bottle has different little speckles inside and on each nail they wont look the same as it all depends how much speckle you get on each brush. 

I would say 'Mint Choco Chip' is the most opaque of the for with just one coat being enough but I applied to coats just for a little extra cover of the nail and 'Strawberry Star Candy' is the second most opaque and I found that (on my nails) I only needed to go over some nails with a second coat. The other 2 polishes will need a second coat. 

Honestly I am really surprised with the polishes as I didn't think they would last as long as they have with out chipping. If you follow me on instagram (username in 'contact me') you will have seen I posted a picture of me wearing 'Strawberry Star Candy' and I uploaded that about a week ago and not at all has the polish chipped, its amazing. Also I found it to be super quick drying, drying with-in at least 2 minutes if not quicker and once the polish and little speckles are down boy are they down. You can even pick off the speck at all it just drys like its glued there.

Sleek Lip4 Lipstick Palette in 'Siren'

Hi guys.

I got a very exciting e-mail through the other day from Superdrug saying that they are currently holding a 3for2 offer on all cosmetics, so over the weekend I took a little wonder into to town to have a look and saw that my local Superdrug are stocking the Sleek Lip4 Palettes £8.99.

There are 6 different palettes in the collection all contain 4 amazingly beautifully pigmented shades (I shall be popping my butt back to grab more) and in each of the palettes there are a selection of Satin, Gloss and Matte finishes. Just like all Sleek's make-up, these beautiful lipsticks are all very highly pigmented which is what you would expect for a lipstick palette. 

Disire Me - this lipstick is probably has the highest pigmentation of all the lipsticks in this palette. I would say that this is a very Marilyn Monroe type red and would work great for a vintage pin-up look, with its strawberry red colour and very glossy finish. 

Love me - this lipstick is pretty close to Mac's Vivaglam Nicki 1 but as you can see in the pictures on the lips it comes out a little more pink than a true coral.  Still very stunning and flattering on the lips, perfect for summer time. Love me is a satin finish.

Kiss me - is a orange nude colour, matte finish and actually my least favourite of the palette. I don't find orange nudes very easy to wear with my skin tone. I would say the finish of this lipstick was pretty matte, but I have seen people say that it is a satin(?) I'm unsure.

Miss me - this is the colour that I actually bought the palette. It is a very bright orange and surprisingly easy to wear, although I should say that in the palette it does look a lot more vibrant. You do really have to build on the colour to achieve a good quality colour pay off.

Although this palette (and I'm sure the others) are amazingly pigmented and good quality, they don't partially last very long and I find I do have to re-apply throughout the day, also the packaging doesn't make it very clear which name matches which lipstick, also it doesn't say which lipstick has which finish so you have to work that out. So honestly I can't say that all the names are the correct way round but the way I look at the packaging is the way I see the names. 
These palettes are perfect for traveling with as they are very well compact and have a good sized mirror inside and also a small lip brush, however, I prefer to use my Real Techniques lip brush to apply these lipsticks. Another very good thing about these palettes is that you can mix colours together to create a unique colour and finish.

Review | Illamasqua Medium Pencil 'Bait'

I did a review of the Illamasqua lipstick in 'Immodest' not long ago (here) and at the same time I brought that I also got myself a medium lip pencil in 'Bait' to go with it. 

Like the lipstick this pencil is a bright doll pink. I would say the pencil is more fushia shade of pink, but it blends in so well with Immodest, as you can see in the picture. Bait pencil is really soft and creamy texture when applying to the mouth, which makes it really easy to work with. It doesn't move around or bleed from the lips once it is applied and I didn't find much of a need to touch up after eating food. 

The Illamasqua pencils are not in a particular category like most brand like lip and eye pencils, Illamasqua say that their pencils can used on lips,eyes,face and body for long lasting colour. So an all round multi-tasking pencil. Of course this pink pencil isn't sometime I can see my self drawing across my eyes or face any time soon but of course it will come in handy for make-up artists. It is nice to see that the multi-use pencil that is creamy and soft, that can be used on eyes also, as most eye pencils are quite hard and can pull and tug the skin but this one just glides over the lips, just like it would on the other areas it can be used on 

The pencils are a medium size, and a good size too. They fit nicely in my make-up bag so it is really easy to carry around if I'm going away, also it sits nicely in my little pot of liner type make-up. These medium pencils cost £13 each, which isn't too steep considering they can be used in a variety of places and considering the colours you pick depends on how long they will last, I guess. 'Bait' pencil has such a good colour payoff and is very pigmented (like the lipstick) and also like the lipstick it is almost like a stain and can be quite tricky to come off, saying that it does last a very long time in the day/night.

Last month I did a fragrance direct haul here and got some fantastic new blushers which I will be sharing with you today. Firstly all these blushes only cost £1.99 so it was (and still is) the perfect opportunity to grab some. 

I will start by saying I have found them to be a little powdery (apart from the cream, obviously) and I mean that after swirling my brush in it there can be some excess product left in the pan, really this doesn't matter too much as there is 7g of product in each of the powder blushes, and for £1.99 who can complain. Saying that, the actual powder blushes are very soft and buttery to touch and easy to work with. 

Orange County Girl is a cream blush (5g of product) with good pigmentation you only need a little bit to give a nice fresh look. Although it looks quite shimmery, on the skin it leave a nice subtle dewiness so you don't really need for a highlighter, unless you want to. The blush is very soft and creamy and quick to blend in with the skin/foundation and I use this one probably the most.

My Girl is a pretty dolly pink which I thought I would get less use of but as you can see it is well used, unlike the others. Like the cream blush, the powder has a high quality pigmentation so I only use a small amount to give a nice healthy effect on my skin. Too much of this product and I look like I've been slapped across the face. Not a good look. I think this blush could probably look nice on every skin tone and is really nice for a summer pink cheek. 

You are my Sunshine I find this to be a powder version of Orange County Girl. I actually use this one the least as I find it far to glittery, having said that, I do think it is a beautiful colour and will probably use it on other people. You definitely wouldn't need to use a highlight when using this blush.

Hippy Shake is a strange blush. There isn't much pigment in this I really had to swirl in the powder to get a swatch. As it is matte it can't be used as a highlighter, and nothing really shows on my cheeks when I apply this. I keep trying to use it but I don't know what to do with it(?) If you have any tips please let me know.  

I use the Real Techniques (review here) blush brush to apply all the powder blushes and I use my finger to work the cream blush into my skin.

I would just like to say I'm not bragging about what I got for my birthday at all I always like to know and see what people get for their birthdays, and also I have been looking at buying some of these products so if you didn't seen them today then you most likely would have seen them in an up coming haul post. So I hope you didn't mind me showing you all the things I got for my 19th.

Rewview | Illamasqua Lipstick 'Immodest'

I have been wanting to treat myself to an Illamasqua product for a while now as I have heard wonderful things about the Brand and I can not (for the life of me) remember who I saw wearing this, but it looked so beautiful on them I just...wanted it. As you do. 

I was browsing the net on the Illamasqua site and looking at the gorgeous shades of lipsticks they had and saw that Immodest was sold out! NOOO! I would be lying if I said I didn't pull a sad face. Then I remembered that Selfridges sold Illamasqua so quickly typed it in and woo they had it in stock. Wonderful. I didn't hesitate to buy it and even got myself a little something else and got it for next day delivery. 
This is a little like the Mac Vivaglam Nicky lipstick however, not so coral and is a matte finish. Unlike most matte finish lipsticks this one is sooo creamy and not at all drying. I don't usually do pinks but I'm becoming a little more daring with my lipstick shades these days, and this shade isn't too bright and isn't too dark, and not overly coral either. It is just sat there pretty much in the middle of those three shades..kind of. So if you aren't too into the pinks perhaps something along this shade would be a good guide for you.
I really like the sleek, square bulk packing of this product as it sits nicely in holders and sits upright and doesn't keep falling over. Also I think it just looks nice sitting with all my lipsticks. Its really soft when you apply it to the lips and doesn't drag and pull the lips, like some matte textures tend too, it just glides on pretty smooth and you can't feel it on the lips at all either. I think I am going to be pretty quick at buying myself a second, third maybe even a fourth if I'm feeling cheeky, Illamasqua product. If any of their other make-up is as pigmented as this then we are all in for a treat. I will mention though that when it came to removing this lipstick, it did leave a stain on my lips, so I had to remove the excess in the morning as I didn't want to make my lips go sore from rubbing them so much. 
Their products aren't stupidly priced, this lipstick was £16. Yes it £2 more than a mac lipstick and there are lots of dupes but, out of all the other high end brands like YSL who probably make a similar colour, £16 compared to £24 is a difference. Also Debenhams and ASOS sell Illamasqua and sometimes have beauty sales which include the brands make-up so do keep an eye out for those things.

Review | Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

I mentioned in my April favourites post here that I have recently bought, and been loving the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation and I bought mine for £33 from John Lewis online but you can pick it up from SpaceNk and other places also. Why did I buy it? I am a foundation addict and always looking for the next best thing, and also I have read so many good things about it. 

I like the packaging of this product as there is no chance of it smashing or cracking in your make-up bag, as it is plastic and its pretty compact and a good size. I don't,however, like the price £33(?) that is so much money although, because this foundation has such high pigmentation you only need the smallest amount so if you think of it that was, the £33 product is going to last you a really long time. The shade I have is Medium Ivory it is a little tanned for me I could probably go a shade lighter, but as we are now approaching spring/summer (finally) here in the UK I suppose I can get away with it until the colder months come back round. 
As I mentioned before this product has some really good rave reviews, and so it should. It is a cream textured foundation and last all day on my skin. Usually I get home from work and think 'have I really looked like this all day' but with this one I looked in the mirror and was shocked that  it had lasted so well. Also I have noticed that it doesn't come off on clothes. I don't know about you guys but I have a habit of getting make-up all on the cuff of my sleeves, with the exception of this foundation, I just haven't found that. 
I like the dewy finish of this foundation as it makes my skin look really nice and healthy and completely flawless. It covers a few minor imperfections, but if you have got some big-ass white heads then you may find you need to conceal a little, like myself. I like to apply like by dotting it all my face and then buffing it in using a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush or Buffing Brush (review here).
